In Loving Memory of Joline Cooper, Celeste Kershaw, and Atreus Kershaw
AUSTINBURG TOWNSHIP, Ohio — The Ashtabula County community is mourning the tragic loss of Joline Cooper, 25, and her young children, 5-year-old Celeste Kershaw and 3-year-old Atreus Kershaw, who died in a residential fire on Friday morning. The fire broke out around 7:30 a.m. on Jefferson Eagleville Road, quickly consuming the home.
According to family, the residence—a repurposed barn—was using alternative heat sources due to maintenance issues, and propane tanks may have contributed to the rapid spread of the flames. Joline and her children were trapped on the second floor when the fire escalated.
Amid the tragedy, heroic efforts saved others, including a 1-year-old child who was thrown from a window and later treated at a local hospital. Firefighters from multiple departments worked through difficult conditions to contain the blaze, while a state fire marshal and Ashtabula County deputies investigated the incident.
The loss of Joline, Celeste, and Atreus has left family, friends, and neighbors grieving deeply. They were cherished family members whose lives, though brief, were full of love, laughter, and promise. The community continues to come together in support and remembrance.
May Joline Cooper, Celeste Kershaw, and Atreus Kershaw rest in eternal peace.
