Ina M. Wengerd Death, Obituary: 30-Year-Old Ina M. Wengerd Tragically Passed Away

The Dalton and Paint Township communities are mourning the heartbreaking loss of Ina M. Wengerd, 30, who tragically died in a two-vehicle crash Friday morning, February 6, 2026, in Paint Township, Ohio.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the fatal accident occurred at approximately 7:36 a.m. on State Route 241, north of Mount Eaton near milepost 4. Authorities reported that Wengerd was driving a dark blue 2012 Chevrolet Cruze southbound when she lost control while navigating a slight curve. The vehicle crossed left of center and collided with a northbound 2007 Ford EC3 van.

Following the impact, both vehicles traveled off the east side of the roadway and came to rest in a ditch. Wengerd suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers confirmed that she was wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash.

The driver of the Ford van, Zeferino Navarro Vasquez, 27, of Canton, was also wearing a seat belt and was not injured.

Emergency response and investigative assistance were provided by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, Paint Township Fire and EMS, the Wayne County Coroner’s Office, and Star American Towing. The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Ina M. Wengerd’s sudden passing has left family, friends, and the Dalton community grieving the loss of a young life taken far too soon. She will be remembered for the impact she made on those who knew and loved her, and her death stands as a solemn reminder of the dangers present on roadways, even during everyday travel.
