Daniel Victor Schandorff, 48, of Stewartville, Dies in Rochester Traffic Crash

ROCHESTER, Minn. — The Minnesota State Patrol has identified Daniel Victor Schandorff, 48, of Stewartville, as the man who tragically died in a traffic accident Thursday night near the Rochester airport.

Schandorff was driving a van north on Highway 63 around 9:45 p.m. when it collided with a northbound semi-truck near 80th Street Southeast. Authorities reported that Schandorff was not wearing a seat belt, while the semi-truck driver, 55-year-old Jack Lieffort of Grand Meadow, was properly restrained and unharmed. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

Investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the collision. Friends, family, and the Stewartville community are mourning the sudden loss of Schandorff, whose life was cut tragically short.
